‘We are here to serve you, worship God, and love the community, in Jesus Christ’ The Parish is a Church of England Team Ministry which was created over twenty years ago. It comprises four district Churches with a complement of Team Rector, three Team Vicars (one vacancy), a retired Priest, a curate, a Reader, and a Pastoral Assistant. All Saints St Alban's St John's St Mark's click on the churches above for their individual website The four churches cover the centre of Southend and Westcliff. It is part of the Southend Deanery. The Parish has established links with the Business Community of the Town, South East Essex College, and provides chaplaincy for the R.N.L.I. of Southend (one of the busiest Stations in the whole country) and the Cliff’s Pavilion, the principle Show venue for South East Essex. 'The Parish of Southend is the Urban Anglican Parish for Central Southend. We affirm the Primacy of the Sacraments, the Creeds, and the Scriptures, and the Ordination of Women to the Priesthood alongside that of Men' - from the Introduction to the Parish Strategy for the next 6 years approved by the PCC February 2002 "we see great advantage in the parish as a team ministry, and very few drawbacks. The Team Rector's three objectives for the parish are each bearing fruit: to strengthen the clergy team, to make St John's the parish's "shop window" and to develop a civic ministry. If there is uncertainty about the future, it centres around the sustainability of a parish with four churches and the current staffing level. Nevertheless, the parish is in good heart with the team ministry perceived to be in as good a state as ever." - from the team ministry review 2006
